Stainless steel is the main material for all the fine details including window trim, access doors, mudflaps, various logos, slamlocks, cab access steps and much more. A team of 35 skilled craftsmen and women patiently trim, glue and assembly every component...some so small that a razor-sharp tweezers is required for handling. Syringes are used to apply a minute amount of glue behind each incredibly fine part. Patience, keen eyesight and a very steady hand are the tools of the trade in each hand-crafted Fire Replicas model. Enjoy your walk alongside the assembly lines of the DC Seagrave Capitol Pumpers.

DCFD E23, Foggy Bottom. Seagrave pumper.

Posted by Martin MacKinnon on 21st Feb 2022

I went to Washington, D.C. in 2004 & visited the various historical sites & museums there. I'm still full of wonder regarding the place. Also, my friend Bill Hattersley & I visited both the Pierce & Seagrave manufacturing facilities on consecutive days in May, 2018. Coincidentally, they were both building pumpers for the D.C.F.D. So, to commemorate our visit to Pierce & Seagrave, I decided to acquire one of each of the 2 brands of pumpers. I chose E23 as my Seagrave model, since it was on sale with the biggest discount & I really like how the life ring is secured by the shovel. An unusual, but neat detail only shared with E3 (Columbia). Besides, who can resist an interesting place name like: "Foggy Bottom".

The only hangup i have is that my 2 1/2 inch line is where my 1 1/2 250" line should be. (The rear driver side inboard and outboard lines should be swapped) Other than that, its spot on. Nice quality!
