Producing a replica of the Chicago Fire Department E-One Cyclone II Engines that is small enough to take home, is a painstaking process. Over 13 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. As you scroll down the assembly pictures, take notice of the parts on each workstation and you will gain a greater appreciation for the process. And don't forget to add this modern workhorse to your Chicago collection.
About Engine 72 by Joe O'Brien
Engine 72 was organized in 1892 at 7914 S Burnham in a 2 story 1 bay frame fire house. In 1931 Engine 72 moved into multiple firehouses until their new 2 story 1 bay firehouse was completed in 1935 at 7982 S. South Chicago Ave Engine 72 would become combination 72 from 1935 until 1949 when they switch rigs with Engine 81. In 1971 Engine 72 moved into a new 3 bay with the split-level living quarters. The old firehouse was torn down to make way for the new firehouses parking lot. Truck 34 moved in with Engine 72 in 1971. Today Both the Engine and Truck are running E-ones. If you’re looking for a station set Fire Replicas Blank E-Ones ladders can be converted to Truck 34. Engine 72’s Station patch is “We Fight What You Fear".
