Over 18 months, each of the hundreds of intricately detailed parts are designed, cast or fabricated, painted, decorated, and trimmed...then organized in small bins, ready for assembly. There is no substitute for the laborious tasks that each of the 35 skilled men and women perform. It is a sight to see as each team member patiently adheres each part to another, consistently analyzing the end result. Engine Co. 78's History by Joe O'Brien
The 1956 Mack B95 used by Chicago were equipped with 200-gallon tanks, this was a first for Chicago engines so the placement of these Engine’s was well thought out. These Mack’s also ran frontline for 20 years, over time the shops would retro fit some of them with booster reels, and square sidewalls over the rear wheels. Tiger stripes also appeared on bumpers, the shops would eventually replace the lights with aurora borealis, and even add large white numbers on the doors. Engine 78 Wrigleyville not much needs to be said here most people know Engine 78 is on Waveland Ave across the street from Wrigley Field home of the Cubs. Engine 78 ran shop number D-303 from 1956 until the end of 1974. It was rebuilt later in life and had a booster line mounted on top. This may end up being a fast sell out next to Engine 87.

This Chicago Fire Department Engine Co. 78 scale model is a museum grade replica of the 1956 Mack B95 Pumper. Like all Fire Replicas models, every detail is modeled to perfection and with razor sharp precision. The replica features the specific department configuration and graphics, leaving no detail overlooked. The display case is custom manufactured with high quality acrylic and resin. The stainless steel etched plate features the department and truck name, and department seal. This replica is a treasure to be displayed and admired and is in no way a toy.
